Analysing Infant Movements in Healthcare using Artificial Intelligence

Automating the prediction and classification of neurological disorders lead to a wide range of benefits, including time and cost saving for both the clinicians and patients/carers, reducing the risk of human error and subjectivity in the assessment, as well as supporting remote assessment to minimize the geographical barriers for providing timely healthcare support.

Starting in 2018, we formed an interdisciplinary team consisting of Computer Scientists (Visual Computing and Machine Learning), Clinical Academic Neonatal Physiotherapist, Consultant Paediatric Neurologists and Consultant Neonatologists. The team has been focusing on analysing infant body movements from videos using state-of-the-art Computer Vision and Machine Learning techniqies. We further enhanced the interpretability of the proposed models with intuitive visualization. More details can be found in the project pages listed below.
